In the late 1960s, Lee “Scratch” Perry founded Upsetter Records
and led The Upsetters, sparking a sonic revolution that reshaped reggae’s future.
His early works were raw yet free—driven by a fearless spirit of experimentation.
By the mid-1970s, within his legendary Black Ark Studio,
Perry turned the mixing board into an instrument itself,
bending echo, reverb, and rhythm into a cosmic landscape of sound.
His innovations resonated far beyond Jamaica,
influencing artists like Bob Marley & The Wailers and The Clash,
and transforming rhythm into something spiritual—a vibration of the soul.
This design, “UPER”, is an homage to that legacy.
The chest print, “drawuper”, honors Perry’s “The Upsetter”
and channels the same creative energy of UP = ascension.
Even after his passing,
